Protect your blood vessels with new onions | Useful information for menu planning and cooking
◆Protect your blood vessels with new onions! April is the season when spring vegetables are delicious. New onions are a prime example of this. The JA Aichi Economic Federation has designated April 10th as "New Onion Day." Onions are harvested twice a year, in spring and autumn. Seeds are usually sown in autumn and harvested in May or June. New onions are harvested early, around March or April, and are less spicy. Onions grown in Hokkaido are in season in autumn, sown in spring and harvested in autumn. Hokkaido onions are known as autumn onions because of their large harvest volume.
