The origin of Halloween

text

Halloween has become a familiar event in October. Its symbol, the orange pumpkin known as the Jack-o'-Lantern, is said to have originated from lighting lanterns to ward off evil spirits.

Another Irish legend is that of a troubled man named Jack O'Lantern who tricked the devil, but was forced to wander the earth forever with a lit lantern in one hand as retribution.

Although Halloween is an event that has spread across the ocean, why not keep this origin in mind and have fun teaching about Halloween in your childcare settings?

Reason 1: Since Halloween is an event that originated overseas, we hope to encourage kindergarten children to look at the wider world and become interested in it.

Tip 2: It's also a good idea to explain to children that the fun custom of dressing up as witches or ghosts and going from door to door saying "Trick or Treat!" and "Give me candy or I'll play a trick on you" is an opportunity to connect with people and interact with them.

Tip 3: October is the time when crops ripen and we give thanks for the harvest. Help your children learn about seasonal vegetables and fruits and explain that Halloween is also an opportunity to say "thank you" to those who produce delicious food.

Halloween school lunches are pumpkins

text

Now, I'm sure each kindergarten will have its own creative seasonal menu for Halloween. In addition to seasonal ingredients, an essential ingredient is the "jack-o'-lantern" pumpkin. Pumpkins are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body and helps strengthen the mucous membranes of the throat and nose, which are the first areas of contact with viruses.
